Early first look for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.

Valérian and Laureline, a french comic from the 1960s are giants in Space Opera annals. Exotic other worlds, high-flying fantasy and action in outer space, and strong characterizations coupled with beautiful art defined what space opera could be for many. It’s credited with directly and indirectly influencing generations of artists and storytellers.

Now Luc Besson is making a movie! Luc Besson is the director behind some truly iconic and visionary movies, including his own 100% space opera genius movie, The Fifth Element, so one can only hope he will do these stories true justice. He’s had some misses to, but given the material and his skills, I think this plays directly to his strengths. First looks are beginning to leak out, I’m excited.
